Once chained in an abyss for a thousand years without a window or crack of light, an angel appeared on a rainy day and delivered me from the darkness that ensnared me in childhood. She became the bridge from death into life and planted her seed in me before she vanished. I watered the seed with songs about suicide, stories about failed men, poetry by dead women, and the flattery of a siren. It hatched into a creature with the head of a dragon and the heart of a dog. A creature I can neither control nor contain. I no longer try. Now I just hold on as it leaps into the Sky and descends into the Sea searching for the angel that gave us life.

My heart beats for loved ones and bleeds for the world even as I growl at it. My spirit beats for Christ and bleeds for the Church even as I growl at it. I spend days playing with friends, evenings conversing with ghosts, and nights dreaming of the Angel with the golden crown and the emerald stars. She is the reason I stay alive.
